RENAULT TRAFIC 1.6L T1000 HT2 'Romance' Hightop MWB. Holdsworth 2 berth Conversion (at the time the creme de la creme!) 1985 B REG 61'000 miles, SORN & no MOT (but never had trouble getting one). The engine vibrates at high speeds as needs new diff crown wheel (this part is tough but not impossible to find) and engine mount (part readily available). The odometer and accelerometer broke recently so milage is higher than listed but no more than a couple of thousand miles. Overall a solid road worthy working campervan and would describe as in a fair condition. Previous owner reconditioned the engine, replacing several pistons and retuning. On the motorway we cruise at around 60mph. Very economical, Cornwall from London on half a tank. Underside has been treated and sealed, there are areas of rust on the upper body work. Exhaust system replaced a couple of years ago and all tyres are new. There are 2 patches of black graffiti, scrubbed off but can still be made out. The in-built heater has been disconnected but the hotbox provides loads of heat but can only be used when stopped. We really dont want to part with our camper as we have set it up perfectly for our needs but he needs some work to get him ship-shape for summer and we won't get a chance to do this. We have been going away as often as possible for long weekends and holidays for the past couple of years since we bought it. We've been on a 3 week tour of Cornwall, up to the Hebrides and last year on our 8 week honeymoon we went all the way to the Peloponnese in Greece via the Swiss Alps. Our lovely camper got us up, down, across every which way first time every time.. very reliable engine! It is a campervan advancing in years and so we have treated it with respect and care. There is a lot of life left and years of happy camping before the old scrappers move in. We have made some modifications over the last year which I think improve the camping experience. Because we have a HOTBOX internal air heater (worth £300 alone!) to keep us warm day or night, we changed the engines water cooling system to bypass the heating matrix and its pipe connector which suffers from a known manufacturing flawed par (the plastic nozzle that holds the hot water in-pipe leading to the air heating matrix is fundamentally flawed in design as it is not strong enough and fractures without warning releasing your water coolant into the engine compartment. Therefore if not picked up quickly enough, this can lead to an over heating engine and bang there goes your head gasket). Installed 2 additional small fluoro tubed lights and 2 further 240V plugs for all our charging/computing needs. If you would like to book a viewing or would like more info please contact - Kate 1.
